Hopi Ear Candling

Ear candling is one of our holistic complementary therapy treatments.

This is an ancient therapy believed to originate from the Greeks who used ear candles for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual level.  However, ear candling was introduced to the modern world by the American Hopi Indians of North Arizona.
The candles are made from natural ingredients of organic cotton, pure beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St. John's Wort, Chamomile and beta-carotene.  The hollow candle acts like a chimney drawing away vapour and any impurities from within the ear.  This therapy is a gentle and natural alternative to syringing.

About Hopi Ear Candling

During a treatment you will be asked to lie comfortably and listen to relaxing music.  The candle is then gently placed in the auditory canal where it is lit. The candle is held vertically keeping the candle steady and preventing ash falling onto you.  You will experience a warm comfortable feeling and a pleasant crackling sound as the candle burns down.  Both ears are always treated.

The Hopi Ear Candling treatment can be completed by a massage of the face and neck to stimulate energy points, increase circulation of blood and lymph, and the drainage of sinus tubes and promote complete relaxation.

Conditions which the candles are useful include:

  • Excessive or compacted ear wax
  • Pressure regulation in cases of sinusitis, rhinitis, glue ear, hay fever, colds, flu, headaches and migraines
  • Noises or ringing in the ears and tinnitus
  • Flying problems
  • Relaxing and calming effect in cases of stress
