My deep tissue massage is for those that are looking for a deeper, firmer massage. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. During the massage, pressure is applied using hands, forearms and elbow. This massage will be tailored to meet your specific needs and will be carried out lying down on a comfortable heated massage couch.

Before your treatment, your massage therapist will want to know about your problem areas. A deep tissue massage can involve your entire body or just one area. A deep tissue massage is different from a Swedish massage at the beginning of the massage a lighter pressure is applied to warm up and prepare the muscles. Both use some of the same strokes, but they have different uses and vary greatly when it comes to the amount of pressure used. Specific massage techniques such as stripping and friction techniques are then applied. Stripping being a deep gliding pressure along the length of the muscle fibres using thumbs, knuckles, elbow or forearm. Friction is a technique where pressure is applied across the grain of a muscle to release adhesions and realign tissue fibres.
